Tale of Passion & Perseverance

Little Ting’s has a captivating story that reflects the passion and determination of its owner, Ting Xiao Guo, and her husband, Jason Xu. Hailing from Anhui province in China, Ting and Jason met during the university days in Hebei province. Ting, an interior design student, and Jason, now an architect, embarked on a journey to Seattle, driven by the love for authentic Chinese cuisine. However, the quest for genuine flavors led to a fruitless search. Undeterred, Ting stumbled upon a humble strip-mall location on Greenwood at 145th, where Ting envisioned the birth of Little Ting’s.

In the pursuit of authenticity, Jason sketched the cheerful dumpling logo and the whimsical aliens-with-dumplings artwork adorning the dining room. Ting’s dedication to perfecting her dumpling-making skills led her father-in-law to travel to Seattle to impart his wisdom. Initially, Ting’s slow pace posed a challenge, but with the unwavering support of her friends, who assisted with cleaning the space, procuring supplies, and even waiting tables, Little Ting’s began to take shape.

In January 2015, Ting’s friends became her first customers, and they eagerly spread the word among their acquaintances. Little Ting’s emerged as a place where friends and community converged to celebrate the flavors of authentic Chinese cuisine. Ting’s story embodies the spirit of perseverance, friendship, and the pursuit of culinary excellence. It is a testament to her unwavering determination to bring a slice of authentic China to Seattle’s dining landscape, one delicious dumpling at a time.
